The plain facts
In the regular cycle, three of Bolingbrook's six trustee seats are on the ballot.
Your ballot allows you to choose as many as three trustee candidates.
Trustees are elected by voters across the whole village, not from separate neighborhood districts.
Leaving one or two trustee ovals blank does not spoil the rest of your ballot.
The three trustee candidates receiving the most votes are elected.
This guide explains the effect of each option. It does not tell you that one choice is required.
One legal option
When a race lets you choose three candidates, you may still vote for only the one candidate you most want to win.
If you fill in all three ovals, every selected candidate receives one vote. If you select only one candidate, your other two possible votes are not transferred to anyone else. The choices you made elsewhere on the ballot still count normally.
A single-candidate vote is legal. It is also optional. Using two or three trustee votes is legal too.
Vote for not more than three
This is an educational illustration, not an official ballot image.
Three honest options
Leave the other two trustee ovals blank. No other trustee candidate receives a vote from you.
Use your remaining votes for the other candidates you genuinely want to elect.
Use the Listening Room or come to an event. The point of this campaign is to earn your vote.
You have three votes. If Allaina is your choice, you can vote for her and stop there, so your ballot works as hard for her as possible.

Allaina is running as an independent. That does not mean running alone. It means she answers to residents first, not to a slate or party organization, while working with anyone who wants to make Bolingbrook better.
Election Day: Tuesday, April 6, 2027
